American (not canadian) Dream

I don't wanna be any less of a track sniffer then my dear colleague. To people who know me it wont come as a surprise that I love almost anything that Robyn is involved in. We did a post on the stuff she's done over at cherrytree records just last week. Now I found a collaboration with a, to me at least, unknown artist named Troy This. The song is called American Dream (Happy Song) and it just keeps spinning around in my head. It's totally awesome. It's more dancy than the Canada-loving stuff A posted earlier. Ohh! Crapp... offers a free download of the song here. If you do wanna preview it before downloading you can listen to it here at HypeMachine.

When it was good

Today we both learned something. Aparantly Flipsyde isn't just one dude but a full group. Most of you remember the song Happy Birthday which featured a sample from the ever so awesome pseudo-lesbians from Russia called t.A.T.u. What mad that song stick out was the thing with a black rapper doing a song about abortion.
But Now they have released a new track called When it was good. This track is unbelievable. V can't really put his finger on what it is but it is on his most played list for today. The video looks good as well.

Now you might wonder how we found this specific track. Who we should thank. Of course it's our friends over @Cherrytree Records. Flipsyde belongs to them. :)

And if you like the song up there in the video. Buy it, don't download. and the entire single is only $0.99 so don't be cheap, support the artists you like. (Single on iTunes)

New Hero: Paul Devro

Now it is just V here. I just got myself a new hero. I really do like the ridiculous DJs that make these sick mixtapes. Thanks to Robyn's twittering I found a mixtape created by this dude called Paul Devro. He belongs to the label Mad Decent who has so many awesome acts, like Major Lazer and Diplo, in their books. Well the thing is that Devro put this 11-minute mixtape on his myspace and I really think you should check it out and give him the love and support he deserves for that track. (direct link)

The Cherrytree Sessions

The awesome label Cherrytree records is, according to us, releasing some of the most amazing tracks you can possibly find. But right now we're gonna focus on two hot(in more than one sense of the word) ladies, who are extremely musical and talented but hide behind the technology. You can find all the musig in this post for download if you go to the iTunes Music Store and search for 'Cherrytree Sessions'. Yes they cost 5 bucks all togeter but they're dynamite so don't be a cheap S.O.B.

First up is Lady Gaga who basically forced her way into the humming-sphere of everyone last year with her hit song Just dance. Don't get this wrong, it was and still is extremely club and iPod-worthy, but it did not show off her best side. Her absolutely best side comes out when she's behind a piano. Check it out:

If you wanna see her perform the whole tracks you can do so at Cherrytree Records website:
Just Dance
Pokerface <---------- Gotta have it

The second bunch of talent you have here is Robyn, the main thing why Sweden is not deported from Earth. She started out her career with a lot of RnB-ish sounds, then moved into more mainstream pop-stuff and created tracks like Underneath the Heart and Psycho which will forever be etched into our Swedish contributor's heart. Then Robyn went her own way, and that meant towards electro and she has never been hotter. Her versatility and talent is shown when she does stripped down acoustic versions of the songs that always seem to invade our sets when we play. Check this out:

Same thing here, if you want to see her perform the whole tracks you can do so at Cherrytree Records website:
Be Mine
With Every Heartbeat
Bum Like You <--------- Total sweetness

That's it. We know it was long but who cares when such awesomeness(as Barney would say) is on display?

Ricki Lee vs Beat Thrillerz

Okay, for you Aussies out there we have a special treat. The Australian Idol-alumna Ricki-Lee has been a bit reworked by Florida-based DJ Mickey Bono under the name Beat Thrillerz. The track in question is the very somber and serious Wiggle it. This track is absolutely club and iPod-worthy so check it out together with a visual here:

Solidarity, Sister!

We like most young people around the world don't really have the money to go buy music all the time. And with the legislation on intellectual property being what it is in the western countries, we're kinda scared of downloading illegally. That's why we love artists who think about these things. One of our favorites is Fever Ray (Karin Dreijer-Andersson of the Knife). She's made her entire album available for online listening on her website. No real downloading, just streaming. A lot of our friends are listening to Fever Ray's magical debut on that site until they can afford to buy the album. If you haven't listened to it yet then you totally should. It is one of the best releases of this year.

Check it out here: FeverRay.com

If you want to involve your eyes as well in this experience you should check out Fever Ray's YouTube channel where you can see the masterpieces that are her music videos. (link)
